Professor Dr Gerhard Zapf – a Pioneer of Powder Metallurgy in Germany

F. Kerbe, M. Schneider

Gerhard Zapf (1909–1999) ranks among the pioneers of powder metallurgy both in Germany and beyond its borders. Especially after 1955, as managing director of Sintermetallwerk Krebsöge, a sintered metal factory located in Radevormwald, Germany, for more than two decades, he made this company into a key production hub for powder metallurgy by introducing new production technologies and a wide array of newly developed alloyed metallic sintered materials.
