Awards for Trend Industrial Ceramics
Both its Founding Director and the company Trend Industrial Ceramics itself have been recognised in prestigious awards for the ceramic industry. These special awards were conferred on the occasion of the staging of the 30th China Ceramics Exhibition in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
Presented with a gold statue, Trend’s Founding Director Guo Haizhu was recognised for his lifetime contribution to research, manufacturing and commerce with the presentation of the Award for Outstanding Achieve- ment in the Promotion of China Ceramics Technology’ by the China Ceramics Association, the body responsible for organising this year’s show.
H. Guo started his path in the ceramic industry when he graduated in 1986 from Wuhan Metallurgy Institute/CN as an advanced refractory engineer. After graduation, he worked in R&D at the China Institute of Refractories/CN, subsequently assuming the position of Director. He remained at the institute in this senior position until 1997. H. Guo has published over 30 theses on kiln furniture and refractories in China. These include “Chinese Kiln Furniture and the Need for Change” in 1998 and “Handbook on Refractory Raw Materials” in 2000. In 1998, Haizhu Guo together with colleagues founded Trend Industrial Ceramics. In only the following year, with the factory up and running in Beijing, he had already made his first significant contribution towards the industrialization of the Chinese kiln furniture industry by successfully introducing high pressure vacuum extrusion. Prompted by his expertise and leadership, technological developments that followed included lightweight kiln structure research; pin and crank systems for glaze firings; and also many other energy and cost saving projects which have proved highly beneficial to the industry and to production managers and technicians in the many user sectors.
At the same ceremony in Guangzhou – held before specially invited guests on 31 May 2017 – the China Ceramics 30th Anniversary Special Contribution Award was conferred on Trend Industrial Ceramics. From its formation, the company has been closely associated with the promotion of advanced manufacturing systems, improvements in product quality and quality assurance, the role of R&D and testing, and the general enhancement of the reputation of Chinese ceramics throughout the world. It has also been a committed supporter of the now well-established series of China Ceramics exhibitions.
