Carbo Ceramics Plans Proppant Plant in North Dacota

A Houston company says it’s planning a USD 25 million proppant distribution facility near Gladstone, in western North Dakota.

The Dickinson Press reports that the Carbo Ceramics Inc. plant will be the company’s largest distribution operation for proppant, which are tiny ceramic balls used by drillers to increase the recovery of crude. Officials say the plant could employ up to 25 workers. Carbo says the facility could open next year (4/2012).
