EPMA – European Powder Metallurgy Association appointed Dr Lionel Aboussouan as EPMA Deputy Executive Director, to succeed Jonathan Wroe, who passed away late last year.

Dr L. Aboussouan officially started with the EPMA on 22 February 2016 and will be taking over the day-to-day running of the Association, its staff and projects. He has previously worked at Arcelor Research and the World Steel Association, which represents over 150 steel producers (including 9 of the world’s 10 largest steel companies), national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. More recently he was employed at ArcelorMittal as the Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, for one of ArcelorMittal business units. Dr Aboussouan was responsible for the creation of procedures, standards and indicators for health and safety legislation within his business units. He implemented and operated training courses for production leaders up to management committees, setting and enforcing ISO standards throughout the production sites to adhere to 14001, 9001 and OHSAS 18001 certification. Dr Volker Arnhold, former GKN Executive Manager and EPMA Board and Council Member, has been recruited as a temporary Executive Director for the EPMA to assist Dr  Lionel Aboussouan with support during his introductory period and to ensure a smooth and legal transition for the EPMA at its General Assembly in Aprin in Brussels/BE.
