New Gaiotto Robotized Glazing Line

SACMI/IT successfully started up and tested the 6th robotized glazing line for WCs at Keramin, a major ceramic-making Group in the Republic of Belarus.

Keramin has once again put its trust in Gaiotto, a company belonging to the Sacmi Group. This line completes the glazing department output capacity expansion project and also includes some important upgrades to the first robots supplied in 2000 and 2002. The plant, tested in January, includes an inspection booth, a shuttle transfer unit that feeds the semi-automatic U-bend glazer, a 2-position loader serving the GA200 9-axis glazing robot and, at the unloading point, sponging of the foot prior to deposit on the belt that feeds the kiln. The inspection and glazing booths feature dry filters that allow elimination of chimneys towards the outside and full recovery of filtered glaze in the form of dry powder. As in previous installations, this latest plant features “self learning” glazing cycles with the robot able to carry out immediate, faithful repetition of the programme executed by the operator. In this case, existing programmes executed by the robots supplied in 2000 were also successfully transferred to the new one. (6/2013)
