Thierry Materne Appointed Imerys Group Chief Innovation Officer
Imerys/FR, the leader in mineral-based specialty solutions for industry, appointed Thierry Materne as Chief Innovation Officer. In charge of Innovation and Strategic Marketing, he reports to the Chairman and CEO, Gilles Michel.
Thierry Materne will join the Group’s Executive Committee in September 2016. He takes over from Thierry Salmona, a member of the Group’s Executive Committee who will become Advisor to the Chairman and CEO. Thierry Materne has a PhD in Chemistry and Materials Science. He worked for more than 11 years in R&D at Goodyear Tire & Rubber in Europe and the USA, developing more than 60 patents in a wide range of areas. He then joined Dow Corning where he held increasing responsibilities in research and business management. Most recently, he was Vice-President Technology and Innovation for Sabic Innovative Plastics (ex-GE Plastics). In terms of innovation, Imerys draws on a network of 400 researchers and technicians worldwide and has substantially evolved in recent years. This is evidenced by an increase in new product sales, from EUR 250 million in 2011 to almost EUR 500 million in 2015. The Group has EUR 4 billion revenue and 16 000 employees worldwide delivering high value-added, functional solutions to a great number of sectors, from processing industries to consumer goods and building products.
