Firing Technology for Raw Materials with High-Energy Aggregates
The industrial production of ceramic products for the construction materials and heavy clay industry was significantly characterized by the optimization of product properties in the past two decades. To this end, extensive measures were developed concerning the geometric design including, among others, the
extrusion with narrow holes and the reduction of the product‘s bulk density by adding opening materials to the mixture. These measures made it possible to very well adapt the properties of the materials to the increasing requirements in terms of insulation effects and mechanical functions. Examples of these materials are shown in Fig. 1.
