Review Ceramics Expo Virtual
Thursday, October 08, 2020
COVID-19 has changed the way we conduct business, exchange information, share ideas, but above all, how we meet. This year’s edition of Ceramics Expo, the leading North American trade show for the technical ceramics and glass industries, had been scheduled to take place in September, in Cleveland, Ohio. Once it became impossible to go ahead with a large scale event, and a decision was made to postpone, the organizers were faced with a challenge; how can we continue to serve the advanced ceramics and glass industries, how can we continue to facilitate trade and business and how can we help people interact with one another? The solution was Connect, a large-scale virtual conference and meetings program, delivered through a digital event platform.
Across 5 days in September 2020, more than 1600 ceramics and glass industry professionals logged into the interactive event platform to connect, discover technologies, create new business partnerships, gather the latest news, and access solutions from more than 160 virtual exhibition partners. Ideas were exchanged, relationships-forged, hundreds of meetings were held, and procurement projects kick-started thanks to a unique opportunity to access information and advice from partners across the supply chain, all from the comfort and safety of a home office or regular workplace. It wasn’t quite business as usual, and we can’t wait to meet in person again in 2021, but the overwhelming response has been very positive, and we hope it’s helped businesses to collectively overcome the impact of travel restrictions and concerns around meeting face-to-face. The next expo event will take place May 2021.
