ATM Becomes Part of the Scientific Division of the VERDER Group

With the acquisition of ATM/DE the VERDER Group/NL extends the portfolio of its Scientific Division in the business segment of sample preparation of solids.

The company is a leading manufacturer of machines for metallographic applications. The instruments are used both in industrial processes and research to prepare solid bodies of metal or compound materials, usually followed by microscopic analysis. The headquarters are located in Mammelzen/DE, where ATM employs 150 staff. Managing Director Heinrich Müller founded the company more than 35 years ago. All instruments are developed, manufactured and assembled at the headquarters in Mammelzen. “We have opted for the VERDER Group because it is a successful, family-owned group of companies which gives us the possibility to continue operating as an independent company”, Heinrich Müller explains the decision in favour of VERDER. „With the acquisition of ATM the VERDER Scientific Division will become the market leader for mechanical sample preparation of solids“, states Dr Jürgen Pankratz, Director of the Division. ATM’s product range perfectly complements the offering of RETSCH/DE, leading manufacturer of laboratory mills for sample preparation and also part of the VERDER Group. As part of the VERDER laboratory division, ATM particularly profits from the international sales and marketing strength of the group with activities in more than 80 countries. ATM will continue to operate out of the Mammelzen headquarters as an independent company. The Dutch technology group VERDER comprises the Scientific Division (laboratory instruments) and the Liquids Division (positive displacement pumps). The Scientific Division consists of the manufacturing companies RETSCH GmbH (sample preparation and particle analysis of solids), RETSCH Technology GmbH (optical systems for particle characterization), Eltra GmbH (combustion analysers for elemental analysis) and Carbolite Gero Ltd. (laboratory and industry furnaces and ovens). The VERDER Group with currently 1750 employees is family-owned in the 2nd generation and directed by Andries Verder.
